This is all included in the rental price. "Parts for vintage photo booths can be hard to find, but after we've refurbished a machine, it performs to its original specifications and looks great, too," says Mark Klein, president of Photobooth Scrapbooks, Phoenix, Arizona. (www.photoboothscrapbooks.com). The company, founded in 1995, specializes in photo booth rentals for weddings, bar mitzvahs, and corporate events. The newest photo booth in the company inventory dates back to the 1970's, with some units manufactured much earlier. "Renting a vintage photo booth is rather pricey." Klein says, "With a 4-hour, $2,000 fee, our clients automatically gravitate to the high end, whether it's for a corporate event or a wedding." An on-site technician is included in the fee to make certain everything runs smoothly. The dip-and-dunk developing process requires additional paper. "We never hire third-party technicians to attend events with our photo booths," Klein notes. "All have been company trained. Also included is a scrapbook in which guests can include their four-image portrait strips, as well as adding inscriptions and graphic elements. Though photo booths are too large for standard collectibles, Klein's acquisitions take on the adventure of rare book collector who never knows precisely where or when his next treasure will be found.
